Tech and memory

The discourse around tech was often displayed in the interviews. In many cases, digital media was framed in a negative way by the participants.

However, the use of digital technologies was the enabler of the whole interaction between the participants and me. As some examples in the map show, music sharing, and film recommendation were particularly powerful means to enable deep connections and understandings between researcher and participant. This was sometimes even acknowledged as a contradiction by the very participants.

The preference for less direct forms of engagement by the eldest participants is also noticeable, since this collides with the normative assumption that face-to-face interaction is preferred over digital means by elder persons.
